Edinburgh’s Festival of Libraries 2008 – the wealth of knowledge and information in Edinburgh made freely available to all -

You will be able to follow the strands across the city at many different venues and there will be something for all ages. From Wilson Smith, Edinburgh College of Art Library:
“Regarding Edinburgh College of Art Library’s enforced closure because of the West Port building collapse, this is just to let you know that the problem has been resolved a little sooner than we anticipated. The College has now been allowed access to the east part of Evolution House, so the library is now open once again and we’re up and running normally.
Lady Lawson Street is still closed due to continuing traffic restrictions round the demolition site, so approach has to be made from the West Port side. However, access to Evolution House is possible via the main entrance.
Please advise any of your readers who may wish to use the College Library accordingly.”

The entries will be judged by Edinburgh poet Ken Cockburn with the winning entrant in line to scoop a dinner for two in a top Edinburgh restaurant. The closing date for entries is June 8th. The ELISA Open Day was hosted by the National Library of Scotland on Tuesday 15th May. It was organised by a small team from six different library services and attracted over 100 delegates from over 35 different Edinburgh-based organisations.
The initial feedback was very positive, the following comment being a nice example: “Excellent morning. Like being at a top class conference with such high quality speakers. Very friendly; great atmosphere, superbly organised. Many thanks for a brilliant staff networking/ CPD opportunity.”
This was the programme and this is a photographic record of the day.
A report and follow-up information will be issued in early June.
